Street foods
As we can see , here in Bulan,  one of  the common source of income is  selling foods along the streets.  We often see them in churches, schools , and parks.
People are fond of buying such foods because of its low price and it is good to savor and eat especially when it is served newly-cooked.

What is street foods?
This is also known as  "Pagkaing Kalye" in Filipino, is a wide variety of inexpensive cuisine that you can buy from vendors or peddlers on the streets. It is essentially influenced by other neighboring countries' dishes like Chinese and Japanese, taken to the next level and given a Filipino twist.
Cooking street food mainly involves grilling, frying and steaming, while others simply require mixing of ingredients to prepare. Chicken and pork are the top choices for the ingredients in making street food.

                                       Let’s try some !

Eating street foods   is an extreme experience but are we certain that the food we in take are safe?

Concerns of cleanliness and freshness often discourage people from eating street foods.
According to Dr. Estrella Payoyo, all street food, cooked or raw, can cause:
v gastroenteritis
v typhoid
v hepatitis
- depending on the bacteria or viral infection they contain.
Most contamination is caused by contact with feces.
Other causes of infection are the food growing yeast, because it’s not stored properly, and flies.

In accordance with this ,we have conducted an interview to cite information about the dangers in eating street foods.

THINGS TO PONDER....
DANGERS IN EATING STREET FOODS
Eating food purchased from street vendors can usually affect the stomach and the intestines leading to common bacterial illnesses like gastroenteritis, diarrhea and jaundice among others.
Also, the food prepared in these stalls use baking soda as a cooking substitution, which can lead to acidity, vomiting and even hyper-acidity in some cases. Worse is that bacterial infection can lead to loss of appetite and even typhoid . Generally people tend to get attracted towards these street food preparations because it is cheap and is served quickly.
Even if the some of these preparations are served hot, it does not mean that the germs are destroyed. Germs can be transferred by serving food in dirty plates and when vendors don’t wash their hands. Especially students and those who stay in hostels eat at such stalls. It is important to spread awareness among the general public to eat at hygienic places.

DISEASES that we might get:
E. COLI is one of several types of bacteria that normally inhabit the intestine of humans and animals. Though most of the strains are considered as harmless, others can cause kidney damage and severe diarrhea and even death.
SALMONELLA is a kind of bacteria that can survive many weeks and months in optimum conditions and cause diseases like typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever or other food-borne borne illnesses. Death is not uncommon in salmonella infection.

Regarding this issue, we also gather data on the Sangguniang Barangay about the resolution that the municipality of Bulan have done.

RESOLUTION NO. 94066
Resolution regulating and controlling streets food preparation through RHU by conducting seminar for an integrated quality and safety program on street foods.
